Water and you shall find...

About a month ago, I mentioned how much I wanted an indoor herb garden.  Truth be told, I still want one but have been slow on getting my act together and actually planting one.  There is definitely something satisfying about planting a seed, watching it sprout and then seeing it bloom into a full-fledged plant.  However, I want fresh herbs I can use for cooking and I want them now.  (I know I sound like a demanding toddler crying for more cookies).

At this point, I'm not interested in waiting around for a seed to grow into a plant.  So, about a week ago, Paul and I snipped some pieces of basil and rosemary from Paul's mom's garden, threw the stems in some water and waited to see if they would root.  Everyone, and I mean everyone, who I know that gardens told me there was no way either of those herb stems would form roots.  But stubborn ol' me, who doesn't like to take "no" for an answer, was set on at least giving it a try.  And lookee here at what I awoke to find this morning...
 ROOTS!  I FOUND ROOTS!

Yay!  The basil roots are growing quite rapidly.  The rosemary, on the other hand, has tiny roots starting to form but at least they're there.  I know this post may seem silly to some of you but its exciting to me because 1) I did something that most people didn't think was possible and 2) It was free.  I didn't have to spend a dime on buying potted herbs or even seeds.  Its a win-win for me.
